The loss of sales that the failure of the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp portals caused the Internet company on Monday could break the neck of many other companies. Between 60 and almost 100 million dollars in sales have been lost – according to initial projections based on annual and quarterly figures.
But that’s only a fraction of the total damage caused by the Facebook blackout, which was probably caused by an internal technical glitch. This is proven by the fact that the platform, which specializes in Internet measurements, published after the failure.
After that, an hour-long disruption to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. In this specific case, the costs of six hours of Facebook downtime could have added up to almost a billion dollars in damage.
